Where to eat in West End,
Simply delicious just about everywhere you go but here are our favorites.
1. Cannibal Café : Lion fish Tacos and great other food at reasonable prices less than $10. Also enjoy their Monkey La La’s for an island drink, tastes like a chocolate milk shake. Great Guacamole. Very good breakfasts for $6
2. Creoles Rotisserie Chicken: Best chicken in the universe. Add the Carrot Salad and Coconut Rice and Beans. Reasonable prices less than $10
3. Keith’s on the beach across the street from Woody’s grocery store. Fantastic wood smoked BBQ and fixens for just $5. Voted best place to eat everyday by our three boys. You won’t see a sign but look for a thatched roof hut and a BBQ smoker.
4. Half moon resort restaurant. Best waterfront view, very good food, don’t order any steak on the island, anywhere!
5. The Landing at The (yellow) Beach House has really good specialty foods. Fantastic view!
6. DIX has great 3 cheese Philly Cheese Steak subs and good Monkey La La’s
7. Anthony’s Chicken is another good place to get good chicken several different ways.
8. Enrick, Rick and Linda’s favorite place to eat is The Thia restaurant on West End, on the water. Everything is wonderful there, the food, the view and the service!
Out side of the town of West End
9. Seafood: Gio’s, A huge variety of different dishes. I got the lobster and King Crab and it took me 1 hour and 20 minutes to finish it for $36 dollars. $15 cab fare each way
10. Best deal on Lobsters go to “Temporary Cals Cantina” for 3 good size lobsters for just $17 which includes side dishes. It’s towards the north side of the island so expert a cab fare to run $30 but worth it. The view from the restaurant is amazing.
11. The Oasis is a great restaurant yet a little pricey. $4 cab fare to and from West End
12. The airport restaurant in the departure lounge area as your leaving has the best sandwiches. Try the Italian and you must order their Monkey La La which is the very best on the island!
Things you must do:
1. Snorkeling is really good on Half Moon Bay on the south side near DIX . Just swim for about 3 minutes around the black coral and it opens to a large reef area. It’s free!
2. Or you could go to Seagrape Plantation Dive resort an take their boat out during one of their scheduled trip. It’s only $25 and well worth the short walk to the dive shop. We also recommend taking their Discovery dive program. It will absolutely thrill you. If you dive, a trip will be only $35 and you’re diving within 10 minutes on the most beautiful reef in the world.
3. Fishing on the Wahoo Slayer is an absolute must do! He now has two boats at two prices. The 23 foot boat (Wahoo Slayer) is very comfortable for 1-3 people fishing. The larger (31.7 foot) boat (Wahoo Slayer II) also can take you snorkeling after your fishing. It can easily accommodate 4-6 people fishing. Captain Enrick always gets you on the fish. He is renowned as the best Guide on the island. Check him out at www.wahooslayer.com or trip advisor under Wahoo Slayer Fishing Charters. (We need to disclose that Linda and Rick own ½ interest in Wahoo Slayer II.) A portion of the proceeds does to help fund the local Children’s Ministry on the island we support.
4. ANOTHER MUST DO! Cleves Adventures and Tours ,( on Facebook or TripAdvisor) Cleve does the very best tours in the world!!! You got to go with him and see the island and eat at CAL’s. A portion of Cleve’s proceeds does to help fund his ministry helping the poor receive beans, rice and flour.
5. One more must is a massage by Donna Lynn Watler. Best in the world! She is such a wonderful person. Her rates are as reasonable as it gets and she does the best message you have ever had. We can get you in contact with her.
We hope this is helpful for you,
George and Barbara, Linda and Rick
